History
Since the time of Sulla, Roman legions were not allowed to be stationed in Rome or Italy, but under the reign of Augustus, a new, elite organization, known as the Praetorian Guard (Augustan Regiment) served as a permanent bodyguard for the emperor.

The death of Augustus, would eventually lead to the end of Praetorian calm, the only time the Praetorian Guard did not use its military strength to play a part in the politics of Rome to force it’s own agenda. Augustus would be the sole emperor that would command the Praetorians complete loyalty. Chief among the officers were the centurions.

The Roman Demons - The Twin Legions
Legio X Gemina, "the twin legion", was one of the four legions used by Julius Caesar in 58 BC, for his invasion of Gaul. There are still records of the X Gemina in Vienna in the beginning of the 5th century.

Carnuntum - Birthplace of the Roman Legions and Nazi SS
In 6 BC, the Apollinaris legion was part of the huge campaign by Emperor Tiberius against the Marcomanni that was obstructed by a revolt in Pannonia. By AD 9 the legion was headquartered in Pannonia, in the town of Carnuntum. Under Trajan the permanent quarters of Legio XIV Gemina - (German-Austria)

Guido Von List
Guido Karl Anton List, better known as Guido von List author of the famous "Secret of the Runes", was an occult and völkisch author who is seen as one of the most important figures in Germanic mysticism and runic revivalism in the late 19th, early 20th Century. The SS symbol originates from the Runes mysticism. The "Twin Sig Runes"

On June 24, 1875 he was camping with four friends near the ruins of Carnuntum. As the 1500th anniversary of the Germanic tribes defeat over this Roman garrison in 375, the evening carried a lot of weight for List. Carnuntum became the title of List's first full-length novel, published in two volumes in 1888.

The Nazis regarded the SS as an elite unit, the Party's "praetorian guard".Sig Rune is the name given by Guido Von List for the Sigel or S rune of the futhark. The first officer of the SS and the Legio Gemina were both named Julius.
